A man has pleaded guilty to causing grievous
bodily harm after a toddler was shot in the head with an air rifle.
The 18-month-old boy remains critically ill in
hospital after sustaining a serious head injury on Friday evening in
the Hartcliffe area of Bristol.
Jordan Walters, 24, of Bishport Avenue, entered
his plea at Bristol Magistrates' Court.
His partner Emma Horseman, 23, did not enter a
plea to a charge of aiding or abetting Walters to commit the offence.
Both were remanded in custody to appear at crown
court on 18 July.
District Judge Jim Astle imposed a reporting
restriction on naming the victim.
The boy's parents were at court but did not attend
the hearing.

A man has pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm
after a one-year-old baby was shot in the head with an air pistol in
Bristol.
Jordan Walters, 24, appeared at Bristol
Magistrates Court on Monday.
Harry Studley is in a critical condition with head
injuries at Bristol Children's Hospital.
Police were called to a flat in Bishport Avenue in
the Hartcliffe area of Bristol shortly after 4pm on Friday.
Neighbours reported hearing a child "screaming
and screaming".
Walters and his partner Emma Jane Horseman, 23,
were both charged over the incident.
Horseman did not enter a plea to a charge of
aiding or abetting him to commit the offence and will face a trial.
The couple, of Hartcliffe, were remanded in
custody and will next appear before Bristol Crown Court on 18 July.
Prosecutor Lucy Coleman told the court: "The
Crown's case is that Mr Walters is the owner of an air pistol.
"Miss Horseman is his partner."
She said the child was visiting Walters and
Horseman with his mother when the air gun was fired.
"Unfortunately the gun was loaded," Miss
Coleman said.
The prosecutor said Walters made a 999 call
shortly afterwards.
"During the call Mr Walters said he thought
the gun was empty and he had accidentally shot the one-year-old
child," she added.

the baby by accident not realising that the Airgun that he possessed
was actually loaded with 1 or more pellets.
Jordan claims that the
Airgun was not loaded.
An AIRGUN only requires
that a person touches the trigger or touch a button to release a high
velocity pellet.
The baby is claimed to
have screamed when the pellet/bullet hit its head. Now the baby is
claimed to be in a critical condition in Bristol Children's Hospital
This story seems like a
good promotion to help people to see the dangers of AIRGUNs or promote a law to ban them. It is
also a plus for Bristol Children's services because Bristol Royal
Infirmary or even Bristol Children's Hospital has been under attack
for its treatment or failure of children in the mainstream news.
This episode occurred in
Bristol on Friday 1st July 2016. a young man called JORDAN
